Hello everyone! So I'm back with yet another TV Show Talk post again. This time I'm going to talk about a Thai series (again, what's new) titled "The Gifted". Let's just jump right into the story.
SPOILER ALERT : spoilers for earlier episodes of the series
The Gifted is set in a fictional high school (or last time I checked) called Ritdha Highschool, a school with a class system (class 1 through class 8) and each class is divided by their intelligence, academic intelligence mostly, and treated differently, so for example class 1 is the class where the smart kids are and has the best facilities (like canteen food & area, dormitory, classroom, etc) and best treatment from school, whereas class 8 is where the least smart kids are and has the worst facilities and treatment.
Ritdha Highschool also has a class program that has the best facilities and treatment above all classes, also treated like gods almost, and it's called The Gifted program. The Gifted Program has always been identified with students that have intelligence above average with talents and such because the students were chosen through a placement test, but that stigma was changed until a class 8 student named Pang, who is notorious for being, someone that wasn't academically smart and didn't really care about school, was chosen to be a part of The Gifted program.
Now that the plot is out of the way, I'm gonna tell you on how I will talk about the series. If on the previous posts I told the plot then the rant on what I like and what I don't like, for The Gifted, I'm gonna talk about each characters, mostly The Gifted Students, their potentials, and a little about The Gifted program
So, The Gifted Program is, well it is a class, like class 1 to class 8. But, it's treated like an extracurricular. So each day The Gifted students are still studying the school subjects in their original class (like Pang in class 8), but after classes, they're gonna go to The Gifted class to learn about their potentials.
People outside the program think that The Gifted program is all about academics, but it's more like an X-Men class I feel like. Each student has their own power, or they call it potentials, and here are the students and their potentials
1. Pang
Potential : Revealed later in the series, one of the biggest spoilers and if not, one of the most important point of the plot
2. Namtarn
Potential : Psychometric Retro cognition
3. Ohm
Potential : Making objects disappear (I forgot the scientific name)
4. Claire
Potential : Synesthesia (seeing a person's aura from the color that they project)
5. Punn
Potential : Skill imitation (can copy someone's skill just by looking at it once)
6. Mon
Potential : Super strength, mastering all styles of martial arts
7. Korn
Potential : Revealed later in the series, is actually still a mystery until season 2
8. Wave
Potential : Tecnopathy (can control electronical devices using his mind)
9. Jack and Joe
Potential : Synchronization (since they're twins, they can synchronize each other, like if one feel pain, the other can feel it too)
(I honestly feel bad that I can't find their promotional pics for season 1, so I use the one for season 2 instead)So, what I think about the series, I do think that it's a really good show, almost perfect I'd say, I'm not giving the perfect title because it's for ATLA only. But anyway, it's a really good show, it captured the suspense/sci fi vibes perfectly. I have no complaints on how the story was executed, I think it was amazing. The introduction was helpful and not rushed. Almost every character got their time to shine and we, as a viewer, can get to know each of them really well.
Also the plot twists were really well done, they blew my mind. There were romance in it, but it's not the one that makes you cringe. I do find it quite cute honestly. If sci fi/school life drama is your cup of tea, then I'm gonna recommend you to watch this. 9,5/10.
