Hello, everyone! I'm back with another Fictional Crush Friday. Today, we're gonna talk about a character with one of the best character development, with amazing, beautiful hair. Ladies & Gentlemen, we give you, the best mother in Hawkins, Indiana, Steve Harrington.
(what if i already have tho)
So, season 1 Steve, he was an asshole, if I can put it in an easy way. He was one of your typical jock who treated almost everyone, except his friends, badly. Everyone gave him a nickname "King Steve", that's how typical of an asshole high school jock he was (tbh I forgot that he had this nickname until I opened the wikia page for Stranger Things). At the beginning of the series, he was dating Nancy Wheeler, Mike's sister.
Now, when I say that Steve really loves her, he does. No matter how much of an asshole he was, he loves her. Their relationship started as something that's very sweet and all. They kissed in between periods, he would sneak up into her room, they threw banter at each other. Basically, your typical high school relationship. But everything went down when Barb, Nancy's best friend went missing. Nancy spent more time with Jonathan (Will's brother, who also went missing around the same time. Will is also Mike's best friend) to try to find everyone that went missing and figuring out what the hell was going on. This act made Steve jealous, so he beat the shit out of Jonathan. But in the end, it was more like Jonathan beating the shit out of him.
Later that day, Steve went to Jonathan's house, about to meet Nancy to say sorry. But it wasn't the right time, it really wasn't. Steve, my poor baby Steve, went to Jonathan's house when they were about to catch the demogorgon. And let me tell you, his reaction was such a mood.
This was the time when I started to think that he was alright. Nancy did keep him in the dark about all this. He didn't know what was going on, he thought that his girlfriend was cheating on him (spoiler alert : she actually does) . At this point, I just thought that he was okay.
Okay, let's talk about Season 2 Steve. On season 1, we know, we hated him. But now in season 2,
At the beginning of season 2, Steve is more organized (?). He starts to work on his college essay, he thinks about his future more. I don't think he hangs out with his old friends anymore. He is only seen with Nancy, they're still together fyi. They're still fretting about the fact that Barb is still missing, or more like Nancy is still fretting, while for Steve, he just got a lot on his plate at that moment. Their relationship is a little bit rocky at this point. But, one thing for sure, he still loves her dearly.
Steve told Nancy that she doesn't need to be stressing out about all that (which I know, it's bad), when they need to finish their halloween costumes for a party that is coming up. Fast forward to the party, they were enjoying their time, but Nancy had a little too much drink. And as a good boyfriend, Steve tried to stop her for having another glass of liquor, but alas, he spilled the drink all over her outfit. Nancy went to the bathroom to clean the spill, and Steve followed her. At the bathroom, she told him that she wasn't actually in love with him. Or as she put it, "it's bullshit."
The scene : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuoYlwyejU0
He was so heartbroken in this scene. I mean, the love of your life, your girlfriend for a year just tell you that everything between them is bullshit. That hurts. Hurts like a bitch. I just wanna give him a hug and I will tell him, that for me, it's not bullshit, it's real. I just love him so much, thanks for coming to my TED talk.
A few days after the party, Steve came to her house to tell her that he loves her and he's sorry, when it's not even his fault. See, we love one man. One loving man
But he met Dustin instead (also one of Mike's friends). Now this is where the fun begin. Starting from this scene, he became the Steve that we all know and love, the Mom Steve. Steve and Dustin went on a whole adventure with the other kids (Mike, Lucas, Max. I know this is confusing, this is why you need to watch the show if you haven't), acting as their mom, protecting them from anything. He even gave Dustin some dating and hair advice. Which are like two of the most important stuffs for him.
In the middle of all this madness, Steve met Nancy and he told her that maybe he's pretty shitty boyfriend but he is actually a good babysitter. Which is 100% fact. He even took Dustin to the Winter Dance (they call it Snowball here). Not actually being his date and all, it's a little too far. What I meant was, he drove Dustin to the dance, dropped him there and still, Steve gave him a little girl advice. See, this is the relationship that we didn't know that we needed. As for him and Nancy, they broke up. Nancy went out with Jonathan, Steve is still a single mom with 6 kids and I just hope that he find someone that's right for him.
Which actually we probably are going to see. In the season 3 teaser (?), he is seen to be working in an ice cream shop at the new mall in town. In the footage, he promoted the parlor with a really sweet girl. I have a huge feeling that this girl is the right one for Steve. If she's not, I'm gonna sue. (not really, but maybe)
So yeah, today we talked about one of the greatest character development that mankind has ever seen. Started from being an asshole, now here we are, a hardworking single mom, Steve Harrington from Stranger Things.
