Hello, everyone! Welcome back to another post. As you can see from the title, I'm going to do a new category. I've done this before for ships and only with Taylor Swift songs. But for this category, one song for one character, like the name suggests, I'm gonna relate a song to a character that I think will suit them, and since I'm still in my A Song of Ice and Fire hyper fixation, I'm gonna go with The Stark Children.
1. Robb Stark - Viva La Vida by Coldplay
Whenever I hear Viva La Vida, I'm always reminded of first, one direction's debut stage on x-factor, second, French Revolution, and especially a king who reminisced his time ruling over his country in the past, of course this point is the one I'm gonna correlate with Robb's situation especially after he 'lost' in the Red Wedding. As I said earlier, this song reminds me of a king who lost his country, be it at war or because of a revolution or a coup d'etat. The last time we saw Robb was, he was King in the North, winning all his battles, never been lost even for once in the battlefield, just got married, and his wife was pregnant so he's like at the peak of his life. Also makes sense with the line "one minute I had the key" in Viva La Vida, because, he was at peak, he did have key. But, him being in love and married was the start of his downfall really, because he broke the oath that he made to his ally by not marrying someone that he was intended to.
Then he visited the wedding that was supposed to be his if it weren't for him being in love with another girl. He got betrayed by the people he thought was ally in that wedding. All of his army, his wife and the unborn baby, his mother, and even himself was killed at the wedding (that's why it's called The Red Wedding, because there's so much blood). I'd like to think that a moment before his death, Robb thought about the short time he had on earth and reminiscing the time he was King in the North, with his army marching down south, asking justice for his father, and then meeting his true love, feeling what it was like to be in love even for a short while. He felt like he almost ruled the world with only one thing left that is justice for his father. But then he realized all that went away in just a second and that's when he ruled the world, really.
2. Sansa Stark - Would've, Could've, Should've by Taylor Swift
Is it really a post made by me if I didn't include Taylor Swift in any way shape or form? I'm always gonna mention her in a post about songs, at least once. So, for Sansa, I actually intended to choose another Taylor song which is Look What You Made Me Do, which Taylor herself confirmed it was partly inspired by Jon, Sansa, and Arya. But then, Midnights was released and in the 3 AM edition, one of the songs are Would've Could've Should've. The few first time I listened to this song, I could only relate it to Taylor's past relationship that she had at 19, but after seeing an edit of Sansa with this song, something clicked in me and made me realize that this song could be Sansa's as well. This song is mostly about how frustrated Taylor was in a mentally abusive relationship when she was 19, and Sansa was also in some relationships that were both mentally and physically abusive. The line "Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts", I can only think of the time when she fed Ramsay Bolton, her abusive husband to the hounds that he used to torture other people, and the smirked that was formed in her face because she could actually be happy seeing her abuser being tortured. Maybe, I can also relate this line to the times she shot Joffrey Baratheon with sarcasm such as, saying "I saw you cry", when Joffrey said that Tommen, his brother, was pathetic for crying, or when she said, "or maybe he'll give me yours", while he forced Sansa to look at her father's head on a spike and saying that he will have her brother's head next.
The line follows it was very painful, "Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first", the word "girlhood" here, I interpreted it as both virginity and her happy times as a girl. For virginity, of course, I thought of Ramsay, since he raped her on her wedding night and managed to sexually abused her all throughout their short but painful marriage. For her happy times as a girl, I could think of two people for this Joffrey, and Littlefinger. Joffrey actually ripped the idea of gallant knights on a white horse will marry her, and made her life a living hell in King's Landing. Littlefinger actually groomed her, giving her a false idea of family, selling her like a broodmare to The Boltons for securing the key to The North.
And the last line that I could think of is, "And now that I'm grown, I'm scared of ghosts", of course, I'm not talking about actual ghosts here, but more of the ideas and traumas that she received from her past abusers. Ramsay also insisted that although he died, he will never leave her mind. We never saw that came into play in the show, but it would make the most sense, even when Ramsay died, she still could hear his voices, all along Winterfell corridor, and maybe in the room that she resided in now, because it would make the most sense that The Queen of the North would be sleeping in the bedroom that every Lord and Lady of Winterfell was sleeping in. The thought of him being with her in that room will always be the ghost of her past.
3. Arya Stark - i love you by Billie Eilish
I'm a gendrya (Gendry x Arya) shipper, let's just put it out there and I chose this song because I see this song a lot in a numerous gendrya playlist on spotify. That got me curious on what this song is about, so I looked it up and this song is actually about someone who didn't believe it when other person told them that they love them, but in a bad way. It's not like, "oh my crush likes me back, this is actually happening" but more like, "oh no, you dont actually love me, you don't mean that", which is basically how Arya was feeling in season 8 towards Gendry.
A scene that I specifically remember while listening to this song is the scene after the Battle of the Dawn, where Gendry was already legitimized as Lord Baratheon, and I think he was overwhelmed by everything then asked Arya to marry him because he loved her and needed help in everything that needed to be done when you're a Lord. Arya was startled, to say the least, when she saw Gendry getting on one knee, because maybe she liked the idea of being married, but that's not her and she isn't really capable of that. That's why she was like , "that's not me. You wouldn't want that. You didn't mean that". and I'd like to think that Arya actually loved him as well, because she did love him when they were younger, but she just didn't want that to happen. "I love you" really is the worst thing Arya ever heard.
4. Bran Stark - Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey
Bran and this song were actually the reason why I decided to make this post. You also might realize that I used a picture of Bran when he was younger, that's because, I'd like to think that he died in the Three-Eyed Raven cave and that almost man that you saw basically appointed himself to be the King in the end, that's not him. He was once a sweet sweet boy, a sweet summer child. Everyone liked him, except for his habit of climbing which led him to his demise, but everyone mostly just thought of him as a sweet child. I also think of summer going to an end with Bran, because he had that fun and loving trait, but he also had this sadness to him.
Lana wrote this song about a friend who passed away and how she would move on even though she's gonna miss this friend forever. That's what I feel about Bran, like although he's "gone", the show (literally) must go on and the Three-Eyed Raven that's now used Bran's body as a vessel so that he can do his part in the Battle of the Dawn, as The King of Six Kingdom---I'm just kidding, of course the Three-Eyed Raven is there as Westeros' living and talking history book and its prediction of the future. (but am I actually kidding? I guess we'll never know).
The particular lyrics that making me think about Bran is the one that you see above, "I think I'll miss you forever, like the stars miss the sun in the morning skies", because like Meera Reed said we've agreed that Bran died in the Three-Eyed Raven cave, and the almost man (his words, not mine) that we saw past season 6 is not Bran Stark. So yeah, he may be gone, along with his direwolf, also coincidentally named Summer, but I'll always remember the sweet boy who liked to climb and dreamed of becoming a member of Kingsguard one day.

6. Jon Snow - Emperor's New Clothes by Panic! at the Disco
The first lyrics that I found interesting and can be related to Jon is, "Done my time and served my sentence", because as we all know, Jon is or was man of The Night's Watch, that's his arc for like the first half of the show. So, when you're a member of The Night's Watch, you basically keep an oath of protecting Westeros from the threat beyond The Wall, was intended for the whitewalkers but now the threats are basically of wildlings crossing over The Wall. With that oath, you're also keeping an oath of celibacy, oath to not be involved in any politics in The Seven Kingdoms, and oath to not have lands or be a lord of any place in Westeros until the person who keep those oaths died. Jon at the time had been dead before because of basically a death sentence carried out by other member of The Night's Watch because Jon brought wildlings passed The Wall so that they could save themselves from the whitewalkers, and like I said earlier, these days wildlings are counted as a threat, so the other members decided to give him a death sentence. When he was brought back to life, he rejected the members' offer to make him the Lord Commander of Night's Watch again, by saying, "My watch has ended", so he had done his time as man of The Night's Watch and served his sentence by being well, dead.
The next lyrics which is also my favorite is, "I'm taking back the crown" and "I see what's mine and take it", in my mind, when we're talking about Jon Snow, is basically about him taking back Winterfell from the Boltons and then the people of The North made him The King in the North again after Robb died in The Red Wedding. The crown wasn't technically his because it's more of a Stark thing, and The North knows no kings but Starks, yet the lyrics was "the crown", so he's taking back the crown from The Boltons, The Lannisters and the Southron government in general, so that the crown is back to The North again. And the "I see what's mine and take it", well, he grew up in Winterfell, even though as a bastard, he definitely would've thought Winterfell as something closest to home for him, and seeing all these strangers stealing Winterfell from him and his family, he's like "Fuck, no. They stole what's ours, I'm gonna take it back", and also making sure that no one was gonna take The North from them again, at least for one season.
